ADHD & Executive Functioning Support: Helping them track, plan, and efficiently complete homework assignments/work tasks, household chores, and more. Also assisting them with physical organization, time management, and other related executive function skills. The goal is to help clients to develop their own systems and consistently execute them.
Emotional Support: Assisting clients in managing frustrations, stress, feeling overwhelmed, anxiety, and other things that are impeding their daily functioning, enjoyment in life, and inhibiting thriving to their full potential.
Getting to the Root of the Issue: Dr. Heller’s assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of how a person functions, what challenges are present (i.e., ADHD, learning disability, anxiety), and what practical strategies and interventions can be used to help them to thrive. It’s like a user guide or instruction manual to your child (or yourself).
Dr. Heller’s semi unique approach providing ADHD/executive function coaching under the umbrella of psychotherapy enables him to more fully support clients emotionally while helping them make functional improvements with time management, organization, and daily routines.
ADHD, Executive Functioning, and Sports: Dr. Heller also loves sports and is a seasoned multisport youth coach. He combines his clinical expertise with real world coaching experience to help kids and teens thrive on and off the field (or court). Dr. Heller assists youth athletes with mindset, reducing stress and anxiety, managing emotions, focusing better, and more. As part of this work, he provides trainings/talks to sports leagues and other sports related organizations.
Note. Dr. Heller does not differentiate between therapy and coaching in how sessions are classified since his knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions guide any coaching work. Additionally, he routinely works with clients primarily on ADHD/executive function items while they continue to work with an existing therapist on other things.
